What We Do

The United Pharmacists Network, Inc. was formed in 1995 to advocate for the interests of independent community pharmacy owners. UPNI was started by a group of independent community pharmacists, several independent community pharmacists serve on the Board of Directors and the majority of UPNI’s shareholders are independent community pharmacists.

UPNI currently provides the following services to our member pharmacies:

  • Third party administration
  • Strategic Marketing and Branding Programs that boost business
  • Political Advocacy on behalf of independent community pharmacy
  • Compliance programs
  • Business development

UPNI monitors the changes occurring in healthcare whether it involves the recently passed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) at the federal level or the State’s goal to redesign the Medi-Cal Program with the renewal of its 1115 Waiver or the changes occurring in Southern California with regards to the expansion of Medi-Cal Managed Care. We feel that in addition to monitoring these changes that it is important to participate in these processes as a stakeholder so that we can formulate a strategic plan to ensure the viability of our member pharmacies.

Lastly, we are the people our members go to when they have a question or an issue or in need of assistance. Over the past 15 years, we have developed relationships in various sectors of the industry, whether it be with health plans, pharmacy benefit managers, the legislative arena, various pharmacy organizations throughout the nation, or with pharmaceutical wholesalers and these relationships are open to our members.
